Formation

This new AEM Board-level committee was formally established in October, 2007.

Objective

To represent the interests of and provide specific services for AEM members reporting less than $250 million in annual revenue.

Leadership

• Chair – To be elected by the committee to a 1-year term each November, with the option of being elected for a second term.
• Vice Chair – To be elected by the committee to a 1-year term each November, with the option of being elected for a second term. It is anticipated and desired that the voice-chair wlil follow the chair.

Composition

• 14-16 total representatives, with the chair & vice-chair serving as representatives for the AEM board.
• Representatives will be from AEM members reporting less than $250 million in annual sales counted for AEM dues.
• There are no term limits, but regular turnover of current committee members and addition of new representatives is a goal.
• It is preferred, but not mandated, that all industry sectors are represented on the committee.
• All levels of membership are welcome to serve on the committee.

Meetings

• 3-4 times per year, including at least one in-person meeting annually.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the advocate for small companies in AEM.
• Identify, develop and implement services and activities specifically for small enterprises, including programs in the core service areas, manufacturing, legal assistance, administration (health care, liability insurance, etc.).
