  AEM Economic Indicators Report for September 2008 Now Online
The pace of economic growth continues to slow, but consumer confidence improved moderately. The twelve Federal Reserve Districts reported slower growth in economic activity in the latest edition of the Federal Reserve Beige Book, published in September. Most Districts described business conditions as "weak," "soft," or "subdued." Although the economy is still growing, the pace of growth has slowed over the past 12 months. (9/12/2008)

The value of new construction starts advanced 6% in July to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $578.0 billion, it was reported by McGraw-Hill Construction, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies. (9/2/2008)

The U.S. Ag Flash Report for July 2008 is now available for viewing. The report compares monthly data from the current and past year of the U.S. unit retail sales of two- and four-wheel drive tractors and self-propelled combines. (8/15/2008)

  August's Econ 101 Report: Budget Challenges for the Next President
This November the country will elect a new president, and whether it is Barack Obama or John McCain, he will face daunting problems. There is a high likelihood that the economy will be in recession, housing will still be stagnating, oil prices will remain high, and credit markets will continue to be unsettled. (8/14/2008)
