AEM’s CE Sector Board of Directors met on Nov. 14 in Indian Wells, California, at AEM’s Annual Conference to discuss a number of key sector initiatives. The agenda also featured updates from AEM staff regarding the association’s service areas, including advocacy, regulatory, and trade shows.
CE Sector Board Chair Eric Sauvage, president & CEO, LBX Company LLC, called the meeting to order and welcomed Directors to the third and final meeting of 2024.
Directors discussed their successes and challenges for 2024 while sharing their insights and outlook for 2025.
Directors also discussed progress made to achieve the CE Sector Board priorities:
- Advocate for the construction industry and proactively engage with policy makers and regulators.
- Support the transformation of the construction industry, recognizing the central role played by technology.
- Define the changing experience and address the evolving needs of construction industry end users and stakeholders.
Advocacy
AEM Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations Kip Eideberg shared the outcomes of the election and discussed what the incoming White House Administration and 119th Congress means for industry- and sector-specific advocacy efforts in 2025 and beyond.
AEM Vice President of Federal Affairs Kate Fox Wood reviewed AEM’s legislative accomplishments in 2024 and discussed potential opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in 2025 at both the federal and state levels.
Eideberg also shared highlights from the AEM Manufacturing Express, AEM’s largest and most impactful member engagement initiative to date. The AEM Express provided opportunities for members to tell the stories of the equipment manufacturing industry and highlight their respective roles in building, powering, and feeding the world.
Regulatory
AEM Senior Director of Industry Sectors John Rozum provided an update on planning for the Celebration of Construction on the National Mall 2025. Like 2023, the event will provide a unique opportunity for AEM, its members, and its industry partners to educate policymakers, elected officials, and the general public on the benefits of construction equipment technologies and their impact on society. Additional event information, including opportunities for member participation, will be shared at a later date.
CE Technology Leadership Group
AEM Senior Director of Construction Sara Feuling provided an update from the CE Technology Leadership Group which, along with the Ag Technology Leadership Group, is developing a common language and structure to be used by AEM and its members to educate industry stakeholders on autonomy, data, and cybersecurity in the non-road industry.
Trade Shows
AEM Senior Vice President of Exhibitions and Marketing Nicole Hallada and AEM Vice President of Exhibitions and Event Services and CONEXPO-CON/AGG Show Director Dana Wuesthoff provided an update on strategic initiatives for World of Asphalt 2025, The Utility Expo 2025, and CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026.
