GenieGenie and AEM hosted United States Representative Dan Newhouse (WA-04) for an I Make America event at Genie. I Make America, AEM’s national grassroots campaign, works throughout the year to host elected officials and other policymakers at member companies’ facilities across the United States to highlight the work of America's equipment manufacturing industry.

"In today’s world, supporting American manufacturing and decreasing our reliance on other countries, like China, is critical to our economic security. As I meet and visit with small businesses and manufacturers across Central Washington, it is clear our families and businesses are struggling under rising costs from record inflation levels, obstacles in recruiting a full workforce, and ongoing supply chain issues. Yet touring Genie's facility and meeting their incredibly talented team made it abundantly clear that despite the challenges our small businesses face, innovation is alive and well in Central Washington. I am proud to represent so many innovators in my district like Genie who are truly paving the way forward while providing good-paying jobs to the many hard-working men and women in our local communities and I will continue to champion legislation to combat inflation, bolster domestic manufacturing, and achieve American energy independence in Congress," said Rep. Dan Newhouse.

Newhouse toured the company’s Moses Lake manufacturing facility, which employs 745 Washingtonians and builds aerial lift equipment, including Genie’s highest-reaching lift, the SX™-180 telescopic boom. During the tour, Rep. Newhouse saw Genie's manufacturing operations firsthand, met employees, and touched on the pro-manufacturing policies he has supported in Congress that benefit the region, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the Ocean Shipping Reform Act, and the 2018 Farm Bill.

“Through its I Make America program, AEM is giving an important voice to the women and men, and the communities, whose livelihoods are rooted in manufacturing,” said Genie President Simon Meester. “It was an honor to host Rep. Newhouse at our Moses Lake facility, and the entire team appreciated the opportunity to talk with Rep. Newhouse about how policy issues affect manufacturing and hear about what he is doing to support the industry.”

"Congressman Newhouse understands the importance of equipment manufacturing to Central Washington and to our country. He is a trusted and tireless champion for American manufacturing, workforce development, a competitive tax code, and energy independence, and the 24,400 equipment manufacturing workers in Washington are grateful for his steadfast leadership,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM’s senior vice president of government and industry relations.
