H. Ashley Barber

With his father, Ashley Barber played a major role in perfecting the asphalt paving machine and the continuous asphalt mixing plant.
He was responsible for many of the innovations that are still used on virtually all asphalt pavers. In particular, he developed a means of precisely measuring materials for use in various types of asphalt mixing plants. He was instrumental in applying the continuous principle of material handling and processing to a variety of applications. In the 30 years he served as CEO, Barber - Greene's worldwide sales grew from $5 million to $88 million annually.
