Sustainability Council
Objective
The Sustainability Council is focused on moving the industry forward faster by aligning the industry as it prepares for increasing stakeholder expectations, existing, and developing ESG regulations to reduce member risk.
Responsibilities

Utilize United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) as a framework to communicate

Establish an industry benchmark referencing the UN SDGs

Enable our industry the ability to tell the sustainability story of growth

Continue to utilize the UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) as the framework, to educate the industry about industry identified key metrics

Utilize Sustainability Maturity Model Assessment to set a base industry benchmark for overall industry understanding of sustainability

Share the industry stories of quantitative and qualitative growth, engagement, and behavior changes

LEADERSHIP
-
Chair and Vice Chair elected by the council membership and will serve one or two calendar year terms, with Vice Chair succeeding as Chair when the Chair exits.

The council leadership consists of a Chair and Vice Chair, Past Chair, Components Members Executive Committee Liaison, and AEM Substance Compliance Steering Committee Liaison.
- It is vitally important that leadership consists of representation of CE and Ag Sector member organizations AND variation of company size.
- Members who are interested in leadership positions, must notify respective AEM staff contact.

Other leadership posts (Priority leads, etc.) will be determined by the committee on an as-needed basis.
- Priority leads are responsible for leading teams to execute on specifical year’s priorities, stated above.
COMPOSITION
-
The council will represent a cross-section of the AEM overall membership.
-
Executive-level representatives from AEM member companies should participate.
MEETINGS
-
Two virtual and two face-to-face meetings held each year, typically once per quarter.
- Priority leads are to present on priority outcomes at quarterly council meetings.
-
Additional virtual meetings are scheduled as required.
