Over the month of July, AEM has been engaging with voters across the country with Equipped to Vote, a national bipartisan get out the vote campaign. The campaign, running from July 1 up until the general election on Nov. 4, seeks to educate, engage, and mobilize the 2.3 million men and women of the equipment manufacturing industry in support of pro-manufacturing policies.
Equipped to Vote will focus on three critical policy areas: trade, infrastructure, and rural America, and it will include state-specific information on how to make a plan to get to the polls. Each of these broader topics will have a month dedicated toward education and engagement-- featuring original videos, quizzes, and other information and tools. As participants continue to engage with the campaign, they are awarded points, which are added up towards monthly giveaways and a chance to win a grand prize in November.
“The outcome of the 2024 election will have a significant impact on all equipment manufacturers and the U.S. economy,” said Wade Balkonis, AEM’s director of grassroots advocacy. “We have a civic duty to help the millions of men and women in the equipment manufacturing industry to make their voice heard and give them an opportunity to shape the outcome on Election Day. It is crucial voters go to the polls with pro-growth policies that allow the equipment manufacturing industry to remain strong, grow the U.S. economy, and create family-sustaining jobs across the nation – top of mind.”
Equipped to Vote’s digital action center on www.equippedtovote.org is a valuable resource for anyone looking to get involved, providing opportunities to get educated, get registered to vote, and take action in support of the policies that shape our industry.
August’s Equipped to Vote module is centered on infrastructure. For equipment manufacturers to help build, power, and feed the world, critical infrastructure investments need to be made to match today’s global marketplace. Our roads and highways allow motorists to travel 3.2 trillion miles a year, and 63 million American jobs depend on infrastructure.
“Equipment manufacturers make the equipment that builds the world, and we are counting on elected officials to facilitate infrastructure investments in rural, urban and suburban communities across the country, while creating a sustainable and long-term funding mechanism for America’s infrastructure,” said Kristy Harris, Chair of the I Make America Committee.
