As part of its ongoing effort to provide participating member companies with the most reliable and accurate North American market share statistics data, AEM recently launched a new road machinery product program for landfill compactors.

The program, originally proposed by AEM member company BOMAG Americas, is the end result of efforts by the association’s Road Machinery Statistics Committee to coordinate on tracking 20-lb.+ machines designed to help maximize landfill capacity and efficiency by moving and compacting waste material in the United States and Canada.

“Finding reliable and accurate market information is a very difficult and daunting experience,” said AEM Senior Director of Market Share Statistics Jacquelyn La Favor. “AEM’s programs provide our members with timely, accurate, and reliable information. Thanks in large part to the programs we’ve launched, our members now have the best-available tools and reports to determine their market penetration and business profitability.”

AEM’s landfill compactor program launched in early 2026, due in large part to the leadership and guidance of BOMAG Americas Dealer Distribution and Product Specialist Staci Carnell. In addition to serving as the program reporter and primary statistics contact, Carnell is tasked with being the AEM Product Specialist for landfill compactors. In this volunteer committee leadership role, Carnell helps uphold program integrity through product expertise, model chart oversight, and disclosure discipline, working in alignment with participating companies, AEM staff, and the data processor.

Currently, BOMAG Americas joins fellow AEM member companies Caterpillar and Volvo CE as participants, and program data was first officially published on March 12, 2026.

Landfill compactors will be tracked by what’s known as monthly “first in dirt” transactions (a combination of first rentals and new machine retails) by United States and Canadian counties. BOMAG Americas, Caterpillar, and Volvo CE receive reported historical data back to January of 2024, allowing for access to monthly retail data for two full years upon receipt of the first reports.

“Compared to any other data out there, participants are getting very accurate information on where a machine ended up,” explained La Favor. “It essentially tracks the first time it gets dirty, which is the most sought-after product information for agriculture and construction in North America.”
