Deb CarsonIt is with deep sadness that AEM notes that former AEM Statistics Manager Deb Carson passed away Monday, Oct. 28, at the age of 67.

Deb worked for AEM for more than 21 years before her retirement in 2020. In addition to overseeing and enhancing the association’s Market Share Statistics program, Deb worked to expand the global footprint of AEM, allowing members to report and receive more granular industry data in new and growing international markets.

“For more than 20 years, Deb was a tremendously valuable asset to the AEM team,” said AEM President Megan Tanel. “A significant part of our association’s success is offering comprehensive and proprietary market share statistics reporting programs, and Deb played an integral in role in providing timely and accurate market data to AEM members. She will be missed, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Deb was a graduate of Milwaukee Custer High School and pursued further education locally at Waukesha County Technical College. Prior to joining AEM in 1999, Deb worked for 18 years as a financial reporting manager at DCI Marketing, before taking on roles accounting and accounts receivables with other organizations. When she joined AEM in 1999, the association’s Market Share Statistics Department consisted of just two employees. Over time, and with Deb’s help, the department has grown and evolved to support confidential market data exchanges for 200-plus member products.

From starting new statistics programs in Latin America Russia and Asia, to recruiting the first AEM member companies from China to report equipment activity into the North America and worldwide stats programs, Deb was instrumental in the tremendous amount of administration and facilitation work that went along with this growth behind the scenes,” said AEM Director of Market Share Statistics Rex Sprietsma. “More than anything, though, Deb was a rare individual, whose passion for her work and desire to provide quality services helped AEM advance its capabilities to meet the growing data-centric needs and wants of AEM members.”
