AEM Safety ToolkitAEM recently unveiled a free online safety toolkit designed to support safety awareness, education, and training for off-highway equipment used in the construction, agriculture, mining, utility, and forestry sectors.

AEM’s Safety Toolkit provides valuable reference materials, including articles, safety education action plans, and PDF resources for toolbox talks. As a component of the toolkit, AEM is also featuring its safety manuals in digital format. These e-manuals can be utilized for content reference, research, and support of AEM members, equipment dealers, and their customers.

AEM’s Safety Materials program is well established, having provided printed manuals to its members and the industries they serve for over 50 years,” says AEM Senior Director of Cultural Innovation Jaime Vos, who oversees AEM Safety Materials. “And now we are making these valuable resources available through an online toolkit, making it easier for our members and the industry to reference our safety manuals and the full range of our safety training and education materials.”

Anyone with an interest in promoting safety can sign up for a FREE account by registering here.

Resources Available in AEM’s Safety Toolkit

The toolkit features several valuable resources to help industry professionals increase their awareness of safety and access training materials and documentation in a digital format:

  • E-Manuals – AEM’s safety manuals are consensus documents that are developed, reviewed, and approved by committees empaneled by AEM, and they represent best practices for the industry. AEM offers 55 manual titles, and they are now available to be accessed in a digital format. However, the E-Manuals are for online reference only and are not a replacement for OEMs’ original documentation or the printed safety manuals that may be required in the equipment.
  • Action Plans – Online action plans are learning modules that feature content from AEM safety manuals and help employees navigate best practices for operating off-road equipment on the job site.
  • Articles – AEM shares news, best practices, and industry thought leadership via its twice-weekly AEM Industry Advisor member newsletter and through content partnerships with various trade publications and media outlets. These articles are available to access and read in the toolkit.
  • Resources Training slides, educational materials, AEM’s safety pictorial database, and other valuable information can be referenced here for classrooms and toolbox talks. Most items are free to download.

“AEM’s Safety Toolkit features an extensive selection of information that is helpful for the Safety and Training School the Service team provides to our customers,” said Annie Kirk, technical writer at AEM member company American Augers. “Our internal technical publications group also references the e-manuals and the pictorial data base to ensure consistency of our safety content.”

AEMs’ Safety & Product Leadership team will feature the Toolkit at its Product Safety & Stewardship Conference this April, where members in attendance will see online demonstrations, be encouraged to ask questions, and sign up.
